Service Description

Ideal for those looking to embark on their next fitness journey and wanting to reduce the risk of injury resulting from musculoskeletal imbalances, whether that's taking up jogging, starting a gym membership, or preparing for the 3 Peaks Challenge. It can also be beneficial in identifying dysfunctional movement patterns before they become a source of discomfort. The MOT session covers a more detailed postural assessment as well as looking into muscle firing sequences, muscle imbalance (length, strength , hypo/hyperactivity) and common dysfunctional movement patterns. This includes: - Common postural dysfunctions such as swayback posture and anterior pelvic tilt, - Scapular rhythm and the relationship between the upper, middle and lower trapezius. - Hip extension firing sequence between the lower back, glutes and hamstrings. - Knee and ankle alignment - Basic assessment of gait mechanics - Checking core control during common physical movements such as jumping, squats, and lunges. - Breathing patterns and secondary respiratory muscle activation Advice and exercises can then be offered to help correct any dysfunctions that may be uncovered, as well as reaffirming what's already working well. The MOT can be tailored to your fitness goals, with focus given to key areas, but its general aim is to provide a useful, overall, assessment for people ranging between beginner to intermediate levels of activity.
